An invitation!

Miss Molly is a bit lazy, but a 100% bon-vivant. She is a little bit old, but 100% young at heart. She is a bit fat, but 100% sexy. On her birthday, very strange things are happening. Cat Chips is talking to her, Brains is phoning her (who holypoky is Brains anyway?) and a creature is popping out of the mirror in her livingroom. How much can one stand?! But Miss Molly is also very curious, and 100% not afraid. She had an open mind and goes with the flow. Follow her and enjoy... the wonderful MISS MOLLY on her Mis(s)tery Tour (which happens to be a mystery tour).

The best gift Miss Molly bought to herself, celebrating her 55th birthday, turned out to be a new laptop. The 961000 Intelligent Energy google-hits had been too much for the old one. Her new Sony VISIO (what's in a name) had no problem at all with any command. And so, Miss Molly had entered a new world. The world of Intelligent Energy! Indeed, she had followed the jingle's instructions!

She had learned about 'Clean Power Everywhere', and different interpretations about the word 'clean' or 'power'. Even 'everywhere' seemed to be multi-interpretable. But still she had no idea why she was investigating. Sometimes it seemed she just had dreamed Brains and Monster.
And so, after three months, Miss Molly tended to lazys and phrazys again. Summer had come, at the riverside there was this artificial beach where nice people, including Molly, gathered at sunset to zip their rosé-wines. River Maas was the best river in the world! Molly loved Rotterdam, her home-town, and instead of blood it felt like having Maas-water in her veins.

She said goodbye to Chips, and off she went. Chips looked a bit sadly. When Molly was out, he couldn't spy on her. And when she went out drinking rosé's he also couldn't control her, which was useful as she had a poor locomotion. My God, this woman managed to stumble over her own feet! But anyway. Miss Molly went out and Chips decided to have a nap.

On the outdoor beach cafe it was good fun. There was a band playing lounge music and the place was quite crowded. Molly stared in the river's water, calm passing by. Water-taxis were crossing between city-center and southbank, bringing more people to 'the place to be'. One of them was an eye-catching woman, all dressed in pink. And this woman walked straight from the head of the jetty towards Molly. Very clearly, this was a woman with a mission!

She introduced herself as Mrs. Hydrophile, Holy Hydrophile and said: 'I know you are Miss Molly. Brains sends me. I don't have to explain why. I have a letter for you. We will meet again. Soon, real soon. Goodnight.'
Before Molly could realize what happened, she watched a water-taxi embarking, with an all pink passenger on board. In her hands she hold a piece of paper. She read: 'Invitation. Please come to the Intelligent Energy Department, in IQ-Village. Ask for H. Hydrophile. Tomorrow, 14:00 sharp'.

IQ-Village?! This was a high-tech place in Rotterdam suburbs, like Silicon-Valley, but different. HH had referred to Brains! Wow! This was not a dream at all! Molly felt excited. Tomorrow, that was real soon! No time for hairdressers or buying new clothes for the event. Gosh, just time to have one more rosé, one for the road!

Flashbacks

Hi, my name is Chips. I'm sharing a small apartment with Miss Molly. She thinks I'm special (and she is right). I think she is not, but maybe I am wrong. Since Miss Molly's birthday, some months ago, nothing seems to be the same. Strange things are going on. For instance: she received a phonecall from a stranger, called Brains. He spoke a prophecy. Times were changing, she would notice soon. A little later, some monster appeared in the mirror of our cupboard, it tried to tell something about energy. Finally, when Miss Molly googled to find out more, her laptop crashed. This day I will never forget! It was end of April. Now it's end of July. Three months have passed. Miss Molly still feeds me, sometimes she caresses me, but I don't feel like purring. There is this strange effect on me which makes me feel unconfortable. I carefully watch everything, I spy, and I will report. For you, my dear readers, specially for you!

MiMaMolly

Then, something strange happened. In the reflection, a pencil appeared. And this pencil wrote with a lot curlicues: You are not signed up to the Intelligent Energy - this is a Global News Alert!

Miss Molly's appetite had gone. This was far beyond imagination. A writing pencil in her mirror! She pinched herself in the arm. Was she dreaming? The answer was a strong 'ouch!' - darnydorm, this was reality! The pencil had gone now, the words were slowly fading away.

Chips was staring at the mirror as well, his tail as thick as a Xmas-tree. Completely shaken he cried: 'Smash it, smash it, there is a monster staring at us!'

Molly, thanks to Chips now shaken too, jumped a meter high, just because of the word monster. Back on her feet she calmed down a bit. There was no monster. She pettet Chips at ease and both looked back into the mirror. The reflection showed a pale Miss Molly, a red-nosed Chips and some dripping letters n.t s.gn... In.. nt E.. gy .

Chips had an idea: 'Make a pic of it, quickly, quickly, the monster is fading away!'

What a brilliant cat he was! Priggish because there was no monster, but intelligent, well, for a cat of course.

Flash*#*, and Flash *#*. Two images would prove for ever what they had just seen. The mirror had turned into its normal state again, a bit brownish, thanks to Molly's after-dinner cigars.

What to do next? It was decision-time. Upload Pics & Google Search.
The uploads were amazing. First pic didn't show anything but on the second a tiny little monster seemed to vanish in light. Chips was right: there had been a monster in the mirror! The image showed some mini-alien with huge round eyes and a scaly skin, having a laserpointer in its claws. Now Molly got the willies all over! Fortunately, Chips didn't notice. Having an emergency, Molly had to be strong!
Google gave 961000 hits in 0.18 seconds, all related to Intelligent Energy. Where to begin? Was this a secret global society? And why should Molly receive a message from them?
She opened the first hit, which seemed to be the official website. A slogan popped up: Clean power anywhere!
Before Molly could start reading, a jingle started: 'MiMaMolly, it is time to start. MiMaMolly, work will be your part. No more lazys, no more phrazys. MiMaMolly, it is time to start.' Then, the screen of her laptop crashed.

Message in curlicues

For sure, she did not know Brains. Last but not least: he had ordered to say 'yes' to the unexpected. And the unexpected was about to come!
Oh dear, what an exciting thought! It felt like a very special birthday present. Like the ones she used to get when she was still a little girl. Huge boxes, beautiful gift papers, lovely ribbons all around. Molly lost herself in daydreaming, eating juicy strawberries and drinking more bubbles. All of a sudden being 55 seemed so promising!

What would happen? She remembered a slogan, a very popular one in her teens. 'Today is the first day of the rest of your life.'
Maybe there was a change foreseen in the stars. Molly opened her favorite glossy. She liked to read about celeb's, their thrilling lives, full of sex, drugs and rock-and-roll.
Wouldn't it be great to be kissed by Tom Hanks, or dressed by Armani.... or to eat oysters, having a rendez-vous with Mr. Putin..... or to be overwhelmed by some long black-bearded terrorist, a guy smelling awfully exotic, crying 'akbar allah' while making love..... or would meeting the mysterious Brains give her the thrill of her live?

Chips watched her carefully and said: 'you liked it, being with Mr. Terrorist, right? Your cheeks are all red and you look sweaty!'
Molly felt caught. Stupid cat! She loved Chips dearly, but sometimes he was just a brazen hussy! For a moment she ignored him, it was time to read this week's horoscope, written by the famous Penney Wise. The stars promised a nice and calm period, and a bug in some electronic environment, very likely an iPod. Hilarious! Was this Penney-woman sponsered by Sony, or what?

Molly went to the kitchen to have some more strawberries. Passing the wardrobe, she looked into its large mirror. Showed her image really who she was? An average woman dressed in black, with greyish dark hair, a pale skin, wrinkles - of course - , a dominant nose and beautiful green eyes. Was this Molly-in-person? Beyond, there was still this young girl, this mistress, this little yellowbelly, but also this artistic not-yet-discovered miracle, this adventurous character and quite a lot more!
Molly just couldn't turn away from her image, as if she was trapped in the mirror.

Then, something strange happened. In the reflection, a pencil appeared. And this pencil wrote with a lot curlicues: You are not signed up to the Intelligent Energy - this is a Global News Alert!

It this Miss Molly speaking?

Before she even could say 'hello' a deepbrown voice whispered in her ear: 'Is this Miss Molly speaking, the Miss Molly who likes to live an easy life?'
This was very odd indeed! First: nobody ever phoned her on her birthday at 9 a.m. and Second: she did not know any person with such a sexy deepbrown voice! On top of this, how on earth could he know she liked to live an easy life?
Chips entered the room again. He jumped on the table and took some more whipped cream, softly purring 'happy birthday'.
'Are you there, Miss Molly, please?' The voice took her inside the phone, this was between him and her now. No more Chips, no more purrings, only strong vibrations seemed to be all over the place.
'Molly, don't ask, just listen. This is Brains speaking to you. You haven't done much lately. You wrote some books, you published some photos, you even managed to speak some words in Italian, but ..... in fact you are a lazy person. You like to live in your own little world, together with a fat cat and some virtual-world-outings. It is time to get out. Today you'll receive more instructions, say yes to the unexpected and make the most of it. I'll watch you, Miss Molly. Have a nice day, goodbye.'
Beep, beep, beep. The voice had gone. PurrrrPurrrrPurrr, Chips was back again.
What the holyblowy......?! Molly took another glass of champagne. Champagne always opened her mind. She just had spoken to Brains, unless - all of a sudden - she was getting nuts. Which she was not! So, mmmm, there was a certain Brains and he claimed to know her. For sure, she did not know Brains. Last but not least: he had ordered to say 'yes' to the unexpected. And the unexpected was about to come!

Chapter I -

On the very day Miss Molly celebrated her 55th anniversary, together with Chips the Cat, having a glass of bubbles, a huge strawberry pie and loads of whipped cream for breakfast, something unexpected happened.

The phone ringed. Chips flashed into the kitchen, showing a rather fuffled attitude. And Molly had no other choice then to empty her mouth in a split second and to answer the phone.

Before she even could say 'hello', a deepbrown voice whispered in her ear: 'Is this Miss Molly speaking, the Miss Molly who likes to live an easy life?'
